Coutii Healthy - Agranulocytosis is a term used when the bone marrow fails to form the granulocytes. Granulocytes, which mostly consists of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell responsible for fighting infection. The body is deficient or granulocytes neutrophils will susceptible by infection.

Under normal circumstances, capable of forming bone marrow neutrophil 1,500 per mikroliter blood. While agranulocytosis, an absolute neutrophil count less than 100 uncountable neutrophils per mikroliter blood. On the conditions of a low neutrophil count, mild infections can develop into a serious infection. Microbes or germs are harmless may develop and be harmful to the body.

Agranulocytosis is quite serious condition. If not immediately treated can lead to sepsis and death.

Symptoms Of Agranulocytosis

People who have experienced agranulocytosis would be susceptible to infection because of the lack of the number of white blood cells responsible for attacks against bacteria.

The symptoms appear like infection, include:

  1. Fever.
  2. Limp.
  3. Headache.
  4. Chills and sweating.
  5. Redness around the face.
  6. Inflammation of the throat.
  7. Canker sores are not improved.

  9. Embossed boils on the skin.

When the infection more weight can result in:

  1. Tachycardia.
  2. The breath becomes rapid.
  3. Low blood pressure or hypotension.
  4. Agranulocytosis Causes
  5. Agranulocytosis can occur due to birth defects (congenital) or acquired due to diseases, drugs, and medical procedures. Congenital agranulocytosis caused by a rare genetic disorder, namely Kostmann syndrome. These abnormalities are passed down to children from parents.

A research proves that as much as 70 percent of the cases of agranulocytosis associated with the use of antipsychotic medications (e.g., clozapine), antimalarial, bitter taste, as well as antitiroid (e.g. carbimazole).

Cause agranulocytosis obtained are:

  1. Autoimmune conditions, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
  2. The disease attacks the bone marrow, such as anemia, leukemia, aplastik and mielodisplasia syndromes.
  3. Hepatitis.
  4. HIV.
  5. The action of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
  6. Exposure to the chemical compounds, such as arsenic or mercury.
  7. Antipsychotic drugs, such as drugs, medicines for malaria (e.g. quinine pills), OAINS, and hipertiroid drugs (e.g. thiamazole).
